This week's #GratitudePost is for the B-ESD Technology Department and our high school Tech Interns. Yesterday, the team presented at a regional TechFest, representing B-E schools and highlighting the great work happening across our district. While much of their handiwork happens behind the scenes, our Technology team ensure that our district systems and tools are operating efficiently in support of student learning. #WeAreBE

October is National Principals Month! We celebrate all of our amazing B-ESD principals and assistant principals. They work hard each day to help set the tone for our schools, ensuring that they are not just places of learning, but also centers of empathy, inclusivity, and inspiration. #ThankAPrincipal #WeAreBE

Congratulations to Katy C. and Oliver N., the Burlington Morning Rotary Students of the Month for October! #TalentedTigers #WeAreBE

Due to violations of the Burlington-Edison High School Athletic Code by multiple student athletes on the varsity football team, we are making the difficult decision to forfeit Saturday's game against Lynden High School. Decisions about the last two games of the season are pending the outcomes of the ongoing investigation. As the violations involve disciplinary action and individual students, we are unable to share additional details or more specific information.
While co-curricular activities serve an important and valuable role in the educational experience for all students, the opportunity to participate in these activities is a privilege and participants are expected to conform to specific conduct standards established by the school.
We look forward to learning from this experience and finishing the football season on a positive, engaging note.

This week's #GratitudePost is for the students and staff at Burlington-Edison High School. We share gratitude for the amazing high school students and B-EHS staff who work each day to create a safe and engaging school community. #WeAreGrateful #WeAreBE

Today we recognize Indigenous People's Day. The Burlington-Edison School District is on the traditional territory of the Samish Indian Nation, the Swinomish Indian Tribal Community and the Upper Skagit Indian Tribe. In addition to the Since Time Immemorial curriculum our students engage in to gain a better understanding of their sense of place in the traditional, native lands that we are on, we are increasing active partnerships with our local tribes through quarterly convenings with them and other local school districts. It is through these convenings that we learn about meaningful cultural celebrations and learning opportunities for our districts.

There is no school for students on Monday, October 9, 2023. Staff will be learning and collaborating together. Another wonderful #Homecoming parade through downtown Burlington! Special thanks to the City of Burlington and the Burlington Police Department for their assistance in helping to keep this parade an annual tradition. Go Tigers! #WeAreBE

B-ESD was fortunate to begin this school year with an insightful alumni panel (pictured), each who shared personal stories about their experiences as students within our school district. This week's #GratitudePost is for our amazing B-ESD alumni. Like this panel, B-ESD alumni continue to support our school district in a variety of ways including as employees, as district and community partners, as civic leaders, and as contributors to student scholarships. Join the Burlington-Edison Alumni Foundation (B-EAF) for their annual BBQ tailgate at B-EHS this Friday evening before the homecoming football game against Sedro-Woolley HS. All proceeds benefit student scholarships. #WeAreBE #WeAreAlumni

Bay View School's Life Skills classrooms received a visitor today as Superintendent Pearson dropped by to spend time learning alongside the students. Dr. Pearson participated in various activities, engaging in hands-on projects, singing songs, and supporting academic and social skill building. The visit provided an invaluable opportunity for Superintendent Pearson to gain firsthand insights into the unique challenges and accomplishments of these remarkable students. The experience also served as a testament to the incredible dedication of the staff members who work in our Life Skills Program. #WeAreBE

The B-EHS Latinx Student Union (LSU) presented at last night's School Board meeting. The students shared their club's commitment to bringing awareness to Latinx culture and celebrations across the school. This week's #GratitudePost is for the student clubs, club advisors and coaches that provide students meaningful and engaging co-curricular activities throughout the school year. Involvement in co-curricular activities is fun and enriching and can strengthen attendance and academic success. #WeAreBE

Last night, K-8 students involved in our HiCap program participated in a Silent Disco as a kickoff event for the year. About 80 people attended representing over 25 different families and all five B-ESD elementary schools. Students submitted song requests and the grouped danced silently away to songs like "Happy," "YMCA," and "Never Gonna Give You up." B-ESD HiCap Program provided snacks and glow sticks. Wearing the headphones makes entry into the dancing easier and everyone feels like they belong. What a fun event! #WeAreBE

This week's #GratitudePost is for our community partners. Organizations like Children of the Valley (pictured), Skagit Boys and Girls Club, Communities in Schools, and many other partners work to support our students even after the school day ends. We are so grateful for the support of our community partners! #WeAreBE
