National Board Certified Staff Members
The National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) improves teaching and student learning. Teachers who achieve National Board Certification are highly accomplished educators who meet rigorous standards through intensive study, expert evaluation, self-assessment and peer review.
We would like to give special congratulations to the following teachers for obtaining their NBPTS certification this year.
Courtney Mense – High School English Teacher
Kelly Powers – Multilingual Learners Teacher at Allen School
Robin Wold – First Grade Teacher at Lucille Umbarger School
Burlington-Edison School District currently has 42 National Board Certificated staff members; this is approximately 15% of our certificated staff. The Washington State average is almost 20% and the national average is 5%.
These staff members all deserve congratulations on their hard work and passion for the teaching profession. Applying for National Board Certification is very difficult work that takes hours of commitment and dedication.
