Dear Allen Families,
It is now June and I can’t believe we are winding down our year. As you know, the last day of school for students is June 17, 2025. It has been an incredible year and I know we will end it on a positive note. I would like to inform you of some special opportunities that we have planned for the last two weeks of school. First, this week we are offering every student at Allen an opportunity to visit the building of their “next year’s school” this week. This is open to students who will be attending LU Middle School, Edison Elementary, or Bay View Elementary. Second, I want to let you know that our all school Play Day will be June 13th. These fun-filled activities will be divided into two different sessions, with our younger students participating in the morning activities and our older students participating in the afternoon activities. Finally, we will honor our 8th graders with an 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony on June 16, 2025. If interested, your student may also participate in an optional district-wide dance for all Burlington-Edison School District 8th grade students. This will take place at the high school after the promotion ceremony.
If you are looking for summer programs for your children, our Boys and Girls Club has a Summer Program for any interested student in our district. It starts June 30th and runs through August 8th. This program will be located at Lucille Umbarger Elementary (soon to be Middle School) and the hours will be 8am-2pm. This program is completely free. Finally, I would like to personally thank all of you for working with me these past three years. You welcomed me into your community and I am grateful for that. Just so you know, I am going to be the principal at Bay View Elementary, (just down the road from Allen) and I look forward to learning and growing as the principal there. Next year Elizabeth Churape will take over as the principal of Allen Elementary. She is moving with the Dual Language program at West View Elementary. Thank you for all you have done to make this year a good one. We couldn’t do it without you!

Ya es junio y no puedo creer que estemos terminando el año. Como saben, el último día de clases para los estudiantes es el 17 de junio de 2025. Ha sido un año increíble y sé que lo terminaremos con una nota positiva. Me gustaría informarles sobre algunas oportunidades especiales que hemos planeado para las últimas dos semanas de clases. Primero, esta semana ofrecemos a todos los estudiantes de Allen la oportunidad de visitar el edificio de su "escuela del próximo año". Esto está abierto a los estudiantes que asistirán a la Escuela Intermedia LU, la Escuela Primaria Edison o la Escuela Primaria Bay View.
Segundo, quiero informarles que nuestro Día de Juego para toda la escuela será el 13 de junio. Estas divertidas actividades se dividirán en dos sesiones diferentes: los estudiantes más pequeños participarán en las actividades de la mañana y los estudiantes mayores en las de la tarde. Finalmente, me gustaría agradecerles personalmente a todos por trabajar conmigo estos últimos tres años. Me recibieron en su comunidad y les estoy muy agradecido por ello. Para que sepan, seré la directora de la Escuela Primaria Bay View (muy cerca de Allen) y espero aprender y crecer como directora allí. El próximo año, Elizabeth Churape asumirá la dirección de la Escuela Primaria Allen. Ella se incorporará al programa de Lenguaje Dual en la Escuela Primaria West View.
