Cadets in action!

Located in the Skagit Valley of Washington State, Burlington-Edison High School (B-EHS) Navy JROTC (NJROTC) is a Burlington-Edison School District academic class (grades 9-12) . Students/Cadets from Mount Vernon and Sedro-Woolley School Districts as well as some Skagit Valley area home school groups attend the course at B-EHS.

Students/Cadets take their NJROTC Naval Science classes at B-EHS like any other academic class during the school day earning Elective, PE, Career Technical Education (CTE) and when a Senior .5 elective Social Studies credits which are all needed as graduation requirements.

The purpose of our program is to build strong citizens, develop character and leadership with confidence in our Students/Cadets so they may achieve success in high school and beyond!

We are not a pipeline or a recruiting instrument for the US Armed Forces. U.S. Department of Defense policy for all JROTC programs (Air Force, Army, Marine Corps and Navy) prohibits recruiting and or information access to Students/Cadets. Fewer than 5% of Students/Cadets volunteer to enter the military upon graduation.

Naval Science students, receive all of their uniforms, textbooks and other curriculum materials free of charge - except when an item is damaged, stolen, lost or not properly maintained.

Our Naval Science curriculum covers subjects in a practical and experiential learning manner. We promote and foster habits of orderliness, precision, focus and discipline which transcend subject areas. We achieve this through the tried and tested methods of naval leadership models and naval leadership development. We help Cadets to understand the ideas of followership and how it translates into leadership skills.

We cover many subjects from naval history to global cultural awareness, health and fitness as well as understanding maritime power and it's relation to trade, commerce and security. We cover nautical sciences such as ship design, oceanography and atmospheric science through our growing Science, Technology, Engineering, Math (STEM) programs in aviation, cyber security and remotely operated submersibles with innovative hands on learning.

Come aboard B-EHS Navy JROTC for the learning adventure - learn to lead and train to succeed!
