What does a high school librarian do all day? And what can she do for YOU??

FOR STUDENTS

1.  Maintains web page for research and classes.
2.  Selects high interest reading material and stays current on new books.
3.  Plans activities in the library, such as career speakers and guest authors.
4.  Teaches students how to use library resources such as OPAC, ProQuest, and Internet.
5.  Creates booklists that connect students with reading material.
6.  Helps students find books they'll enjoy reading.
7.  Opens library before and after school and at lunch for research, reading, and computer use.


FOR TEACHERS

1.  Plans lessons in collaboration with teachers.
2.  Does curriculum-related research that teachers request.
3.  Keeps teachers updated on new materials that supplement their curriculum.
4.  Leads book discussion groups and regularly sends out book reviews to co-workers.
5.  Creates web pages related to courses and their research in the library.
6.  Establishes library policies that increase circulation and maintain availability of materials for all patrons.
7.  Manages the library budget.
