BEHS Library Pass Policy
- Students may visit the library at any time during the
school day as long as they have a pass from their teacher which includes:
ü
their namethe date
ü
the period
ü
the purpose of the student’s visit to the library
ü
the time they are expected to return to class (5-10 minutes is a
reasonable amount of time for book selection and check out; longer is
appropriate for researching and word processing).
ü
Teacher assistants may use the library, but they must also have a
pass.
- Teachers may send no more than 5
students to the library at a time unless they are coming with them.
Teachers must call in advance if more than 5 students are coming in,
especially if they need computers. Some days, it simply isn’t feasible for the
librarian and library assistant to help and supervise a class of students and
the extras who come in from classes.
- New packs of library packets are distributed to each
teacher at the beginning of each semester to encourage teachers to use them.
- Please leave a note to substitutes about the
expectations for library use and the use of passes—students tend to take
advantage of subs.
- Thank you for monitoring the use of the library. While
we encourage and want students to use our books and materials, some of them
use the library as an excuse not to be in class. If we notice a student from
your class coming in often, we’ll probably get suspicious about their genuine
interest in finding a book they can and will read and we’ll let you know.
