Ready, Set, Learn!

Thanks to collaboration between our B-E Technology Department and the Seattle Seahawks football team, my second and third graders were able to participate in an enriching educational experience this fall. Through the Seahawks "Ready, Set, Learn" program, the students took part in a teleconference during which they were connected electronically with Seahawks player, Anthony Simmons and students at other schools around the state. The focus of the interaction was on goal setting, doing your best in school, and living a positive and healthy lifestyle. Students were able to ask questions of Mr. Simmons, and respond to his questions, also. All of my students also read the essay written by Mr. Simmons and published on the Ready, Set, Goals Seahawk Website. This essay was a personal account of Mr. Simmons' childhood and stressed the importance of exercise, good nutrition, and proper sleep. Thanks to the Burlington-Edison Technology Department, the Seattle Seahawks, Coordinator Mr. Ron Johns, and Mr. Anthony Simmons for providing this inspirational, motivating, educational experience for my students!
