Assessment Schedule 2017-18

At Burlington-Edison we believe that assessing student achievement through testing is an integral part of instruction. We use this data to determine whether or not we are meeting our educational goals. The results of these assessments affect our decisions about grades, placement, advancement, and instructional needs. Additionally the state required assessments are used to ensure all public school students, no matter where they go to school, receive a quality education. This page contains important information and support documents for teachers, parents, and students.

SBA, MSP, and EOC:

Sample and released items for SBA, MSP and EOC are available on the OSPI website. The information found on these pages also includes sample reading passages and science scenarios, writing anchor set annotations and scoring guides. These are excellent resources for administrators, teachers, parents and students. Please encourage everyone to use and share this information for instruction, practice or remediation.

Below are more resources that include sample questions and items from our state tests.

Mathematics: Materials related to the Smarter Balanced test and the Math End-of-Course (EOC) exams, as well as legacy resources for the former Math EOCs and Measurements of Student Progress (MSP).

English Language Arts: Materials related to the Smarter Balanced test, as well as legacy resources for High School Proficiency Exam (HSPE) and Reading and Measurements of Student Progress (MSP).

Inappropriate Behavior

The Burlington-Edison School District affirms the right of all students and employees to pursue their education or occupation with dignity in a safe environment. Harassment, Sexual Harassment, Sexual Misconduct, Intimidation and Bullying will not be tolerated in the Burlington-Edison School District.

Students or staff members who believe that they have been subject of harassment and/or discriminatory behavior will report the incident immediately to the principal or department supervisor. Complaints regarding harassment or discriminatory behavior will be investigated immediately. Inquiries or complaints may be addressed to the Assistant Superintendent’s Office or the Title IX Officer, Dr. Jeff Drayer, at 927 E. Fairhaven Avenue, Burlington, WA, 98233, or 360-757-3311.

The Burlington Edison School District participates in a federally funded School Breakfast and Lunch meal program. Free and Reduced Priced Meals are available to families who qualify, applications are available on line. Download and complete the application and return it to the food service office. It is the goal of the Burlington Edison Child Nutrition Department to provide meals that meet the health and nutritional needs of our students. Students are offered a variety of appealing food choices daily and can make selections that meet the following program requirements:

Breakfast Meal Requirements

½ pint of Low Fat Milk

½ cup Juice, Fruit or Vegetable

2 oz. of Grain or 2 oz. of Protein or a combination of 1 oz. each.

Lunch Meal Requirements
½ pint of Low Fat Milk
¾ cup Fruit/Vegetable

8 servings of Grain / Week

2 oz. serving of Protein
