Played basketball at Skagit Valley College on scholarship. In High School Lettered in Basketball 3 years; Played Baseball all 4 years and Football senior year.
Personal: Started in grocery business at age 14 at Knutzen Bros. Became Produce Manager at Burlington Thrifty Foods and worked his way up to Produce Manager/Merchandiser for all Thrifty and Market Foods. Had 3 children: David, Dale, and Cheryl; All graduated from BEHS. Dave passed away in 1984.
Memories: Youngest brother Lyle remembers hanging over the railing in the old BEHS gym cheering on the legendary Tiger basketball teams of the ‘50’s led by his brother.

All-NW Football Center 1958. Most Inspirational Football 1958. Member of 1959 Basketball Team that placed 2nd in state.
Played Football and Basketball all 4 years.
Personal: ASB Vice-President 1957-58; ASB President 1958-59. B.A. and M.A in Dairy Science from WSU. PhD from Wisconsin. Served as Extension Dairy Specialist at N. C. State Univ. Raleigh, NC from 1969 until 1994. He was a nationally recognized pioneer and authority in milking management and mastitis control. He was admitted to the NC State Animal Science Hall of Fame. Don Passed away in 1994.
Memories: Wife, Vicki, first saw and heard of Don Wesen in the fall of 1958. She was an 8th grader in Mt. Vernon attending her first football game which was against BEHS. Don was the starting center. She later met him again when she was a freshman at WSU and he was starting his Masters program. They later married.

Personal: Working Partner at Cascade Ready Mix and owner of Allied Concrete Construction. One of his most satisfying accomplishments was as a Burlington Little League Coach. Four children from a previous marriage: Welene, John, Debra and Cori.
Married to Sally and had 3 children: Michael, Sarah, and Robert. All 3 are BEHS grads and were heavily involved in athletics and activities. Gene passed away in 2004.
Memories: Loved to tell stories of his playing days to his children with Co-Captain Danny Lomsdalen. Treasured his time being coached by Legendary Coach Glenn Rickert. Remained an avid BEHS football fan and rarely missed a game.

Personal: VP of Senior Class at B-EHS. Graduated from WWU and MA from NAU. Teacher and Coach for 38 years. High school wrestling teams won several state titles. Boy Scout Leader. Married to wife, Linda, for 40 years. 5 Sons all Eagle Scouts.
Memories: Being coached by the legendary Bo Campbell and being part of the 1958 State Champion Wrestling Team. “Bo was riding high on a cloud!”

Lettered in Basketball twice and also participated in track and football at B-EHS. Earned a Varsity letter at Washington State University in Boxing at 147-156 lbs. 1959. Earned 3 Varsity Letters in boxing at California State Polytechnic University 1960-62. 2nd Collegiate Boxing Team All-American 156 lbs. 1961. 1st Team All-American Collegiate Boxing Team 156 lbs. 1962.
Personal: Married Shirley Johnson in 1963. Had 3 sons (Virgil, Shane, and Seth) who were the pride of his life. Also 3 grandchildren. He grew up on a Skagit Valley farm and had a lifelong passion for farming. In graduate school he boxed in events called “smokers” and in later life was an avid intramural baseball player, basketball player and runner. He was an internationally respected and honored veterinarian, teacher, and horseman. He was on the faculties of Auburn University, The University of Georgia, Michigan State University, and Oregon State University where he loved teaching, advising students and doing surgery. Howard Gelberg, his Dean at Oregon State described him as, “a great horseman, a great surgeon, and a great teacher.” Dr. Edward A. Scott died of pancreatic cancer in 2005.
Memories of B-EHS: He had fond memories of his classmates and his days at B-E. He was inspired by B-E basketball coach Duane Berentson, by WSU boxing coach Ike Deeter, and by Coach Tom Lee at Cal Poly.
