Mataya - PE/Health

My name is Frank Mataya and I'm starting my 22 year at Allen Elementary. I graduated from Eastern Washington University in 1984 where I earned a BA/Ed in Physical Education and Health Education. While at Eastern Washington I participated in Football and Baseball. I have been married to my wife Sharon for 21 years and we have two children Rudy (17) and Katlyn (20). I have really enjoyed supporting my kids in playing sports. My daughter Katlyn led Burlington-Edison Volleyball to a undefeated season (31-0) and in 2011/12 and was awarded the Washington State Gatorade Player of the Year as well as being honored as a prep Volleyball All American. She also played Basketball and was 2nd/ in the 800 meters in State her senior year. She now attends Mississippi State University on a Volleyball scholarship. My son Rudy is also a muliple sport athlete who was a starter in Basketball all season for the Tigers..He hit a game winning shot this past season to get Burlington-Edison to the State Basketball Tourney. Rudy also made it to State in Track last year placing 6th/ in the Long Jump. As his senior year approaches we are excited to observe his conyinued success in sports and in the classroom.
In my spare time I enjoy working out, gardening and Fishing. I'm very proud to be a VIKING!!
