Bay View Elementary School

Mrs. Sue Wilson, teacher Hi! My name is Sue Wilson.  I always knew I wanted to be a teacher, and have been teaching various grade levels, in different states and countries for 39 years. My first years of teaching were in Canada: in Moncton, New Brunswick for a couple of years, and then in Bella Coola, British Columbia. Following time in Bellingham for Graduate school, my husband and I taught in this area.

When our son was two, we followed a our hearts to a wild adventure to Southeast Alaska.  There were raised our two children in remote logging camps while teaching children that had parents involved in the logging industry. We started out living and teaching on a log float, and eventually we were in a much larger school that even had a gym!

In 1996 we moved back to Bellingham to be closer to family and to provide our own children with other opportunities that were not possible in "the bush."  I began teaching in the Burlington-Edison School District at that time and have enjoyed being a part of this district.

Our children are now young adults, and we are grandparents. I still love teaching and love the students.

On my time off, you will probably find me out on Shaw Island where my son and his family live, and where we have a family home. I still love to enjoy the quiet outdoors and  nature with my family over any city or tourist attraction.
