Classroom Procedures

For

Mr. Taylor’s Classroom

Daily Routine

  • Upon entering the room take care of business BEFORE class begins: water fountain, borrow paper, sharpen pencil, etc.
  • Once you take your seat, take out your paper and write down the “I can” or “I will” statement from the board and complete the daily warm up or daily task while Mr. Taylor takes attendance.
  • Upon conclusion of the warm up, you should be prepared for the math lesson with the appropriate materials out and ready for the day’s math lesson. If it requires a compass make sure you have a compass before class begins. If a graphing calculator is required, make sure it is on your desk at this time!
  • Just before conclusion of the class you will be asked to write a short reflection statement and enter necessary information in your planner. Regardless if you have a reflection statement, you will be required to write an entry into your planner! This will be more of a focus this year!

Reminder

Each day you walk into my room to improve your math skills. You are not in my room to catch up on gossip, practice your comedy routine, or plan for the weekend.     You are in my room to do math. Focus on the task at hand please!

Hall Pass and Sign Out Sheet

Anytime leaving the room after class begins students will need to sign out and take a hall pass. When leaving the room, permission is needed for going anywhere except the bathroom. If going to the bathroom, quietly, when appropriate (see below), check out, take a hall pass, and go to the bathroom. Remember to sign in and replace the hall pass when you return.

At no time should a student get out of his or her seat when Mr. Taylor is talking or engaged with the class while teaching. Find a time to get your drink, sharpen your pencil, throwing something away, or go to the bathroom when you are not interrupting the class. You need to be aware when you can or cannot leave your seat.
