Burlington Edison School District

Welcome to the School Nurse Page
Nurse
School nurses are integral members of the education team, playing a key role in promoting health and helping students to improve learning readiness by working with staff, students and their families. In addition, school nurses develop Emergency Care Plans for students with diabetes, seizures, and life threatening allergies. They also develop Individual Care Plans for other health conditions and medically fragile students. School Nurses help assess students who are being evaluated for Special Education. We ore responsible for state mandated Vision and Hearing Screening each year. And, we contribute to 504 accommodation plans working closely with school counselors. School Nurses work closely with local health departments regarding communicable diseases and immunization compliance in schools.

I have served as B-ESD District Nurse since 2000 and enjoy working with students, staff and families. I supervise a team of Health Assistants that provide services to students at each of our schools. They are trained to give medication, hands-on care of students who are injured or sick and provide basic first aid.
