These are the activities planned for Homecoming this year. The more active you are as a class, the more fun you will have. Encourage as many of your classmates to participate as possible.
13th Annual Hall Decorating Contest- Oct. 17-18. Each class will get an area to decorate on campus. You need to decorate your area in your class’ theme and relate it to supporting the Tigers during Homecoming Week. Be as original as you can. You may use paper, markers, paint, streamers, etc. to make your hallway come alive. Advisors: Frosh: Zeiser ; Soph: Axelson; Jr.:Cardona; Sr: Radich
Class Themes for Halls: These are the themes for you to follow when decorating your hallway. The overall theme is “Movies”.
Freshmen: Romantic - Cafeteria Entrance Sophomores: Comedy - North 3 Story to 2nd floor landing Juniors: Animated North 3 Story - Bottom of Stairwell Seniors: Sci Fi 3- Story Front Entrance
Lip Syncs: Each class needs to perform a lip sync using their class theme. Each class will have between 8 and 12 minutes to perform. Your music needs to be burned on a CD and given to Mr. Gudgel by Thursday, Oct. 23. You can also use an ipod, but I need to have the complete song list. We will provide someone to play the music. Please give a confirmed length of performance to Mr. Gudgel by Wed. Oct. 22. Lip Sync Themes: You do not need to use entire songs for your performance. Music can include movies, TV shows, or commercials in addition to songs. Your lip sync needs to include your theme in every song. Overall Theme: 1 Hit Wonders Throughout the Decades
Freshmen: The 1980’s- Any 1 hit wonder from 1980-89 (Funky Town, Take on Me, Pump Up The Volume, Mickey, It Takes Two, Supersonic.) Sophomores: The 1990’s- Any 1 hit wonder from 1990-99 (Groove is in the Heart, Jump Around, Baby Got Back, What is Love, 500 Miles, Whoomp There it Is) Juniors: The 2000’s – Any 1 hit wonder from 2000-2009. (Blue, Who Let the Dogs Out, Stacy’s Mom, S CLUB 7, High School Musical) Seniors: The 2010’s - Any 1 hit wonder from 2010-Now- (Gangnam Style, Whip My Hair, Waka Waka, Party Rock Anthem, Don’t you Worry Child, Harlem Shake)
Parade: The traditional parade through downtown will take place at the conclusion of the assembly Friday, Oct. 24, at around 2:00. The parade will leave from Victoria St. and proceed down Fairhaven to the new Chamber of Commerce stage at the train depot. We will have a Pep Rally there at the end of the parade. The football team will ride on fire trucks and will go first. Cheerleaders, Dance Team and Band will follow. Each member of royalty will follow the band in cars.
Dress Up Days: Encourage your classmates to dress up during the week. We will have competitions each lunch that count toward your class’s overall score. A team of judges will choose the 4 best overall costumes, regardless of class, at each lunch. This will be held in the cafeteria. We will also count the number of students who have dressed up 1st period by class.
Friday, October 17: Letter Jacket/Sweater Day- Wear your letter jacket or another letter jacket from a family member or friend. Can be from any school. (Even MV) No Jacket- Wear blue and gold. Mon. Oct. 20: ‘Merica Monday- Show your U.S.A. Pride. Red, white, and blue clothes, Old Navy American Flag Shirts, Captain America shirts. Tues. Oct. 21: I Woke Up Like This- The easiest dress up day ever. PJ’s, Slippers, Robes, Messed up hair, no make up. Wed. Oct. 22: NERDICON- Show off your inner nerd. Star Wars, Lord of The Rings, Disney, Super Heroes, Twilight, or just regular taped glasses and high water pants. Thurs. Oct. 23: Throwback Thursday- Time to break out the classics from your elementary school days. Ninja Turtles, Disney Channel, Spongebob, anything you would have worn as a younger kid. Fri. Oct. 24: Tiger Nation Blue and Gold Day- Show your true colors supporting the Tigers for the big game.
The 4th Annual Tiger Games: Wed. Oct. 22 6:00 Kirkby Field Each class will compete in a series of games and events to earn points for their class. Sign your classmates up for the different events. Students need to sign up and get a permission form in room 552 in order to participate. Parents and spectators are welcome to cheer on each class to victory. Events include: Pumpkin Head Relay; Egg Toss; Wheelbarrow Race; 3 Legged Race, Trivia Challenge, Pie Eating Contest, Mini-Pumpkin Pitch, Tug-o-war and more. Points Awarded for 1st through 4th in each event.
Homecoming Buttons: The 2014 Homecoming button designed by B-E students will be on sale the week before and during Homecoming for $1. Buttons will allow you to be eligible for prizes from local businesses.
Spirit Can Award: The class with the most total Homecoming points wins this trophy. Points are as follows: All-Time Record: 2665 Points Class of 2013. Lip Sync: 500; 300; 200; 100 Hallways: 400; 300; 200; 100 Assembly Competitions: 100; 75; 50; 25 Dress Up Days: 50; 40; 30; 20 (Each Lunch; Each Day) Also: 100, 75, 50, 25 for total of dressed up class mates each day. Tiger Games: Can be up to 500 points.
Homecoming Assembly: One of the highlights of the year. Performances by the Dance Team, and Cheerleaders, Lip Syncs performed by each class in addition to the Staff Lip Sync. Introduction of Homecoming Royalty. 12:30 Oct. 24.
Homecoming Game: B-E Tigers Vs. Anacortes Seahawks 7:00 PM Kirkby Field Oct. 24. Cheerleaders will have a Tailgate BBQ before the Game at 5:00.
Homecoming Dance: Semi-formal “An Enchanted Evening” Sat. Oct. 25 from 8-11 PM in the High School Cafeteria. Sponsored by the B-E HS Dance Team. Tickets on Sale Mornings, lunch, and after school starting Oct. 20. Pre-Sale $15 each. Day of Dance $20 each. Students must have an ASB Card and a Dance Contract on File.
