knowledge of musical terms and vocabulary, improved sight-reading ability,
and the development of “critical listening” skills.
3. Build students’ self-confidence, self-motivation, and self-discipline.
4. Increase students’ awareness and appreciation of the Arts through
exposure to a wide range of repertoire and experiences.
5. Develop a sense of teamwork and pride in individual and group performance.
6. Demonstrate proper rehearsal and performance etiquette, both as audience
members and performers.
7. Explore career opportunities in Music and related fields.
Requirements:
1. Attend all scheduled performances (concerts, contests and festivals). See
attached list of concert dates. Unavoidable conflicts must be submitted to
the director in writing PRIOR to the event and at the earliest possible date.
In case of absence due to illness or family emergency, please provide a note
from a parent or guardian upon returning to school. Makeup work may be assigned
for missed performances. Failure to pre-arrange absence or document illness
or emergency will result in a lowering of your grade.
2. Come to class prepared. This means having your music, a pencil, and your
choir notebook. You are responsible for keeping your music in good condition.
3. Be an active participant in class! This is a participation-based class.
Your daily efforts constitute a significant portion of your grade. You should
always be actively engaged in the music and the learning. If you are unable
to sing on a given day due to health concerns, you should see me prior to
the start of rehearsal to discuss your responsibilities for the day.
4. Strive to demonstrate assigned proficiencies and develop your musicianship.
5. Always sing with the most beautiful tone you are capable of making and
work to constantly improve your sound.

vocabulary terms covered in class.
7. Follow the rehearsal rules as established by the director. Read, record,
and follow all announcements as they are posted in the choir room.
8. Demonstrate a cooperative attitude and contribute to the learning environment
of others.
Please note that BEHS requires all students involved in performing/competitive groups to complete an Activities/Athletics eligibility packet (including drug test completion). Students participating in multiple activities need only complete one packet, which covers eligibility for all activities during that school year. Physicals are only required for participation in athletics.
