COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Provide the knowledge and activities necessary to develop success in managing personal and business records such as balance ledgers, Invoices, vouchers, Income tax, classified cash books, simple math skills.
GRADING:
Grading is based on four criteria:
1. Recordkeeping packets 30%
2. Chapter tests 55%
3. Leadership 15%
STUDENT EXPECTATIONS:
The Business and Marketing Department at Burlington-Edison High School utilize all the Discipline Policies and Procedures in the Student Handbook with the following additions:
Tardiness: Tardy means: Not ready to work. When the bell rings, you can be marked tardy if you are:
The professionalism grade will be lowered for each tardy, habitual and consecutive tardies may result in detention and administrative action. Typically, 3 tardies in a week will earn you one hour of detention.
School-Related Absences: Approved family vacations and extended illness of five or more consecutive days fall into this category. The student is still responsible for the course content covered but may not have to make up the daily work. Daily work grades will be assigned at the current grade level. However, all missed tests must still be taken.
Cheating: Cheating is the taking of others work and claiming it as your own OR providing answers to someone who claims your work as their own. Suspected assignments will be given zero for both the cheater and the person providing the answers. Administrative action and loss of credit may result with second offense.
Missing Assignments: Missing assignments will be given a zero. Papers without names will be thrown away, and the assignment considered missing..
Late Assignments: Late assignments must show the dates absent at the top right-hand corner for full credit. One day late allowed for each day tardy.
Seating charts: Seating assignments may change anytime at the instructor’s discretion. Lack of cooperation may result in being written up for insubordination (page 23, Student Handbook).
Required Materials: Pencil, workbook, and small inexpensive calculator are required for the student to be prepared for class. First workbook is provided, replacements cost is $15.
