World War II
This semester elective course will examine the Second World War. Considerable attention will be placed on the causes fo the war in both Asia and Europe. We will trace the actual development of the war stressing the goals of the planners as well as the unintended consequences of events. Emphasis will be placed on enormous importance of actual war production adn its inevitable consequences. Subordinate themes of the Holocaust, the dropping to the Atomic Bomb, and the central themes in National and Japanese authoritarianism will be examined.
Global Studies
Global Studies is a semester course required for all freshmen. The course combines the study of physical geography, development of cultures, and human interaction with the environment. The course will study regions of the world with an emphasis on geography as it affects a country's history, economy, political systems, customs, and traditions. Units of study include: The 5 themes of geography adn culture, The Middle Eaqst adn Islam, The Modern Middle East, a classroom based assessment, South Asia, Buddhism, and India/Pakistan, & Western and Eastern European geography and background.
