"Class Expectations"
2005-2006 Spanish I, II - Mr. Hance 1. Assigned Seating System - Students will be assigned to a specific seating assignment and will be expected to be in that seat when the bell rings to start class. Students must remain seated for the bell that will dismiss them from class. 2. Tardy System - There will be no penalty for the first or second tardy. A third tardy will require a disciplinary referral. Tardies do not carry over to the next grading quarter. With a second referral, the student would be subject to progressive discipline/due process based on the discipline steps outlined in the student handbook. 3. Attendance Policy - In addition to the school-wide attendance policy, students in this class may also earn 5% of the total points possible if their attendance is 95% or better. (No more than two days missed and 5% of the total points are given as extra credit) 4. Cheating/Plagiarism – Cheating and plagiarism are met with the same consequences. On the first offense all parties dishonestly involved will receive a zero on the work involved. If the class is a year long class a first offense during the first semester would carry over into the second semester and any further incident after the first offense would result in a 2nd offense and receive the corresponding discipline. (Removal from class with an “F” grade posted to the student’s transcript. 5. Cheating –
The dishonest act of using someone else’s work to better one’s
own efforts and/or dishonestly claiming that someone else’s work
is one’s own. 7. Make-Up Work - It is the responsibility of the student to arrange that tests and work is made up. Make up times will be posted on Monday and any test or assignment must be completed no more than one week after the absence. If a student absence is unexcused, the work missed may not be made up. Test make-up after unexcused absence will be at the teacher’s discretion. 8. Grading System - 94 - 100% A Tests
and Quizzes 50% 9. Room Atmosphere
- Class will be conducted in an atmosphere of mutual respect. Everyone
is special and deserves special treatment. When one person is speaking,
all others will listen. Remember to follow directions, be prepared for
class, respect school property and the property of others, and be honest
and helpful to others. 11. Incentive Program - Students may earn A+ grades for outstanding participation. 12. Extra Credit - Extra credit will not be granted at the end of the grading quarter, but it will be given frequently throughout the quarter. Outstanding written work often warrants extra credit. 13.
