"Class Expectations"
2005-2006
Spanish I, II - Mr. Hance

1. Assigned Seating System - Students will be assigned to a specific seating assignment and will be expected to be in that seat when the bell rings to start class. Students must remain seated for the bell that will dismiss them from class.

2. Tardy System - There will be no penalty for the first or second tardy. A third tardy will require a disciplinary referral. Tardies do not carry over to the next grading quarter. With a second referral, the student would be subject to progressive discipline/due process based on the discipline steps outlined in the student handbook.

3. Attendance Policy - In addition to the school-wide attendance policy, students in this class may also earn 5% of the total points possible if their attendance is 95% or better. (No more than two days missed and 5% of the total points are given as extra credit)

4. Cheating/Plagiarism – Cheating and plagiarism are met with the same consequences. On the first offense all parties dishonestly involved will receive a zero on the work involved. If the class is a year long class a first offense during the first semester would carry over into the second semester and any further incident after the first offense would result in a 2nd offense and receive the corresponding discipline. (Removal from class with an “F” grade posted to the student’s transcript.

5. Cheating – The dishonest act of using someone else’s work to better one’s own efforts and/or dishonestly claiming that someone else’s work is one’s own.
Plagiarism – The act of stealing and passing off ideas or words of another as one’s own; using (creating a production or document) without crediting the source; presenting as new or original an idea or product taken from another source.

6. Homework - Homework will be due on the next regularly scheduled day of class. It will be collected at the front table in the first two minutes of class. Late work will not be accepted for credit. Projects or papers will be accepted late with a deduction of one grade for each day late.

7. Make-Up Work - It is the responsibility of the student to arrange that tests and work is made up. Make up times will be posted on Monday and any test or assignment must be completed no more than one week after the absence. If a student absence is unexcused, the work missed may not be made up. Test make-up after unexcused absence will be at the teacher’s discretion.
