Mr. Lundgren

Mr. Lundgren

Ted Lundgren graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in 1979 with a B.A. Degree in Middle School Education and endorsements in English, PE, and Coaching. After teaching for two years in a 5th/6th elementary position in Iowa, He moved to Colorado to find the mountains. One short year of playing ski bum and working in retail sales let him know how much a career in education meant to him.

Mr. Lundgren then moved to Walla Walla, Washington to teach English and other assigned courses in a 6th, 7th, and 8th grade setting at John Sager Middle School. After three years, he accepted a K-12 counseling position at Dayton, WA. He worked there for three years and moved to Vashon Island to run the Middle School Counseling Office at McMurray Intermediate School. Mr. Lundgren spent one year there, struggling with the rain and gray clouds, then moved to Freeman School District in Rockford, WA to work as a K-12 counselor for 15 years. It was at Freeman that Alternative Education became a part of his passion as he wrote a grant, started a Contract-Based School, and co-facilitated the program with the lead teacher. Three years ago he looked for a career and location change, landing in the Burlington-Edison School District and has been very satisfied with the move due to the caring staff, quality kids, and professional attitude of the people in this district.

Mr. Lundgren's main philosophy of life is generated by the statement of three kinds of people in our world: Some people make things happen, some watch things happen, and others just ask "What happened?" He likes to be a 'Make things happen' person by maintaining active involvement in school, extra-curricular activities (specifically wrestling), and being active in life with skiing, bicycling, snorkeling, camping, and home construction.
