| Q: What do I have to do to graduate from high school? | A: Everything you want to know about graduation requirements, including which classes to take, how many credits you need, and what other types of projects you need to complete, are in the Course Description Booklet, page 9 | |||
| Q. Do I need to pass the WASL to graduate? | A: Not if you are in the class of 2005, 2006, or 2007. Starting with the class of 2008, you will need to pass the reading, writing and math parts of the 10th grade WASL to graduate. Starting with the class of 2010, you will need to also pass the science part to graduate. | |||
| Q. When is my PAWS portfolio due? | A: March 30th. You must get 70% to pass | |||
| Q: When are Senior Presentations? | A: April 21, 22, 26-28, from 7:50-9:50 a.m. 70% to pass or you redo it. | |||
| Q: Can I get 90% on my porfolio and 60% on my presentation to pass? | A: No. You have to get 70% on each to pass | |||
| Q: When is the scholarship assembly? | A: The Scholarship Assembly is Wednesday, June 8, from 8:30-10:30 in the gym. | |||
| Q: Who do I tell at the school if I get a scholarship? | A: Tell Stacy Murdock in the Counseling Office if you received a scholarship. Include who it is from and how much. Even if you don't accept the scholarship, we will still record it in the graduation program. | |||
| Q: When is the Senior Parents Tea? | A: Tuesday, June 1, at 3:30 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center. Pictures will be available from 2:30 - 3:30 in the new foyer of the gym. | |||
| Q: When do the Seniors meet about Graduation? | A: Wednesday, June 8, at 8:00 a.m. in the PAC | |||
| Q: What else happens on June 8? | A: You will be given a checkout sheet which must be signed by each teacher, the library, the attendance and main offices which indicates you have cleared all responsibilities and obligations. If you are earning any credits outside the regular school day, these should be indicated on the bottom of this form and your progress appropriately documented. Your participation in Baccalaureate and Graduation is determined from information on this sheet. Running Start students will be sent check-out sheets for their college classes by Skagit Valley College, and are responsible for having each of their college instructors sign and indicate “passing” or “not passing” the class. Running Start students must do the high school checkout process, attaching the college sheet to the high school checkout sheet on June 2. The check-out sheets are to be turned in to Mrs. Chase who will be located in the Main Office, and all fines paid to Mrs. Axthelm in the Main Office by 12:30 p.m. on June 8 in order to be able to participate in Baccalaureate and Graduation. Please check the fine list located in the Main Office ahead of time. | |||
| Q: When is Baccalaureate? | A: Baccalaureate will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 8 in the High School Performing Arts Center and is sponsored by the Kiwanis Clubs of Burlington. It will be followed by refreshments for interested seniors, their families and friends. A graduation gown is required clothing for Baccalaureate, NO CAPS OR TASSELS are to be worn. Although this is an optional event, students are encouraged to attend. Seniors will line up in the Performing Arts Center for Baccalaureate at 7:20 p.m., and must not be late. | |||
| Q: What's up with the Wild Waves trip June 9th? | A: Reservations have been made at Wild Waves Waterslides/Enchanted Village for the Senior Class on Thursday, June 9, 2005. Buses will begin loading at 7:30 a.m. and will depart from the high school at 8:00 a.m. for Federal Way and return to B-EHS around 3:30 p.m. As this is a school event, transportation is provided and students will not be allowed to drive private vehicles. The waterslide park requires that tickets be purchased in advance to receive the group rate. Cost is $12.00 for an admission ticket with transportation provided by the school (normal admission is $20.00). If you plan to go, please purchase your ticket in the main office by Friday, June 3. If you decide after June 3rd that you wish to participate, you must bring your permission slip and board the bus at 8:00 a.m. The admission fee will then be $17.00 payable at the Group Entrance at Wild Waves. Past experience has been that this has delayed your entrance to the park, so please bring in your permission slip and pay by May 27 to save hassles. Food, beverages, glass items, drugs, and tobacco are NOT allowed. Lunch can be purchased at the park. Wild Waves security personnel check contents of bags, etc. being taken into the park. You will be given your admission ticket to the waterslides and checked to see that you have a signed permission slip as you board the bus. | |||
| Q: When is Graduation Rehearsal? | A: June 10. Required practice for Graduation will be at Burlington-Edison High School on Kirkby Field from 8:30 - 11:00 a.m. Meet promptly at 8:30 a.m. in the Gym to begin rehearsal. IF YOU ARE NOT AT REHEARSAL, YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE IN GRADUATION. Also, students need to notify Mr. Christman by Friday, June 3rd if they DO NOT plan on participating in the graduation ceremonies. | |||
| Q: What about the Senior BBQ? | A: The Senior BBQ will be June 10, right after the graduation rehearsal. It will be free of charge for all seniors participating in the graduation practice. | |||
| Q: So WHEN IS GRADUATION??? | A: Friday, June 10th, at 7:00 p.m. at Burlington-Edison High School on Kirkby Field. Seniors must be at the high school gym by 6:30 p.m dressed appropriately and in cap and gown. Seniors will line up at 6:50 p.m. and must not be late. | |||
