Our district recently adopted the non-fiction book Fast Food Nation: The Dark Side of the All-American Meal by Eric Schlosser for use with tenth graders next year. I'm currently teaching it in my 11th-12th grade contemporary lit class. Since we have 90 copies, I decided to offer the extras to interested staff members. About one third of my staff took me up on the offer! The twenty or so of us will be reading the book between now and February, with plans to meet for a (nutritious, non-fast food meal) and discussion. I've never done an all-staff (well, bunch-of-staff) read before, so if you have suggestions and ideas, I'm totally open to them!
