AV Equipment at BEHS
Teachers
are almost always assigned AV equipment within their departments, so the library
isn’t responsible for much other than storing some spare stuff in the back
room. At some schools, all AV equipment is stored and circulated by the library,
so we’re lucky.
We
have a few TV/VCR set-ups, some overhead projectors, an AverKey, an In-Focus video projector,
2 DVD players--one connected to a TV and one a floater--and a bunch of random
stuff like overhead screens, tape players, a record player from about 1943, and
some slide projectors. We also have a digital camera and a digital video camera
that you can check out.
We don’t supply stuff like bulbs or repair equipment. Supplies must be ordered through departments, and repairs
must be handled through tech or an outside repair shop.
The In-Focus LCD
Projector
This HIGHLY popular item is library equipment that I keep permanently
set up for instruction in the library, but which may be checked out by teachers
if I'm not using it. Please reserve it far in advance with me (Cathy) to
avoid conflicts and crying.
AV Equipment Check-Out Policy
1.
Equipment is checked out ONLY to
staff members.
2.
All equipment must be checked out
by the librarian or assistant librarian, and there must be a record of the check
out.
3.
In the AV storage room, there is a
poster with the materials listed and pictured. There is a check-out card for
each item. When equipment is
borrowed, the librarian or asst. fills out this card and puts it in the
appropriate pocket. When the materials are returned, the name is crossed off.
4.
It is VERY important to keep
careful records of where things are and who has them, since there are very few
items, but they do circulate regularly, and one-of-a-kind things like the video
projector, are very popular.
