Welcome to English. This is a class that you must pass in order to graduate from B-EHS. This course will help you to develop existing and new writing & reading skills. This semester will be divided into the following units of study:
We will write frequently for a variety of audiences and purposes. The length and detail of your writings will increase as your skills improve. You will work on all stages of the writing process; pre-writing, rough draft, editing, and final draft. Your writing samples will be kept in a working portfolio that will allow you to reflect upon and self-evaluate the progress that you make and the skills that you need to continue to work on throughout the semester.
You will be required to respond to a variety of writing prompts as well as WASL preparatory questions. Journals will be graded on Fridays.
You will be required to read 400 pages outside of class. You may read 4/100 page books, 2/200 page books, or one 400-page book. You must complete at least 200
