"Bang Bang, You're Dead" is the fictional account of a 15-year-old boy, Josh, who has shot and killed his mother and father at home and five classmates in the high school cafeteria. Josh is alone in a jail cell when, much to his surprise he is “visited” by the dead students. Rather than ghosts, the students are actually inventions of Josh’s own mind, vividly representing his own memories and emotions. They relentlessly hound, harass, and ridicule him, all the while demanding to know why he killed them.
Later, Josh
is confronted by school officials and police, tried in a courtroom and
sentenced to “life without possibility”, and finally comes
face-to-face with his parents. In the end, he is confronted of his actions,
with no one else to blame. It’s not “bang bang you’re
dead again”, he can’t just push the reset button on a video
game and start over. This is real, this is the rest of life, this is forever
