Campus Choir is a non-auditioned ensemble open to all interested students.  Students in this class will learn proper vocal technique, music sightreading skills, key music vocabulary, and beginning ensemble concepts such as blend, balance, and harmony and diction.  The choir will be exposed to a wide range of music from classical to popular.   The Campus Choir participates in all the school choral concerts.

Chorale – This auditioned ensemble is the mainstay of the choir program.  Students must demonstrate good vocal technique, sight-reading skills, and accuracy of pitch.  Ensemble concepts are developed in greater depth and applied as the choir performs at the regional choir festival in March.  This choir also sings a variety of music, with the Festival concert in March focusing on classical pieces and masterworks and the spring concert focusing on popular music.

In addition to these main ensembles, there are two specialty ensembles to provide more advanced students the opportunity to work in smaller groups:

HiLighters is a small, select group of male and female singers who perform frequently at community and school events.  Students are chosen by audition based on well-developed vocal technique, sight-reading, ability to hold parts in close harmony, along with focus, maturity and dedication.  HiLighters meets 0 hour and the HiLighters are also enrolled in Chorale, the school’s primary ensemble.  The HiLighters sing a variety of music throughout the year, with an emphasis on jazz and chamber music.  They sing at all concerts and also perform frequently at school and community events.

Advanced Womens’ Choir is an all-female version of HiLighters.  This ensemble was founded in 2005 to accommodate the high number of talented female singers participating in the program.  Like the HiLighters, students are chosen by audition based on well-developed vocal technique, sight-reading, ability to hold parts in close harmony, along with focus, maturity and dedication.  They sing at all concerts and also perform frequently at school and community events.  The Advanced Womens’ choir sings a variety of music throughout the year, with a special emphasis on traditional female harmony based groups like The Andrews Sisters and The Supremes.
