Chief Roger Hull Served in the United States Navy for
24 years as an Electronic Countermeasure Technician. But he didn't
just start out as chief, he had to work for it, and work he did. He
made Chief in the fall of 1991.
Originally Chief was accepted into college but he disliked
school so much that he joined the Navy. This was not his only
reason for joining the Navy, of course. He also joined the Navy to gain
skills that he could use elsewhere, and "I felt strongly about
paying my debt to my country for giving me a free [nation] to live in."
In the Navy, Chief Hull worked in Squadrons VAQ (Fixed
Wing Aircraft) 135, 139, 137, and 141. He said that in the Navy
they "Worked hard, and played hard."
Chief Hull got out of the Navy in 1996 and took up
teaching. He was "not thrilled with the caliber of sailors coiming
into [the Navy]." He says that the recruits the knew their rights
but not their responsibilities. He became a teacher to help fix
this problem. And as of today he still has "No regret"
of becoming a teacher, and neither do I.
