When traveling to a new city, it is helpful to become oriented to your surroundings. Which way is North? Where is downtown? Where are the main landmarks? How do you get from where you are staying to your other destinations? In your hotel room, where are the extra blankets? Where is the iron? What time is checkout? By becoming oriented, you are able to spend your time enjoying yourself instead of worrying.

One of the best ways to prepare for a test is to become oriented to the test itself. How much time do I have? How many questions do I need to answer in this section? How many multiple choice? How many short answer? How many extended response? And most importantly, what do the directions tell me to do? How do they want me to answer these questions?
