Project: Current Events Portfolio

  • Due date: End of the course or upon completion

Goal: The Current Events Portfolio Project will broaden your knowledge, understanding and awareness of current issues Washington State is expressing today and how their possible solutions will effect the future of this Northwest Region.

OBJECTIVES:

1. Review the 5 geographical regions that you studied at the beginning of this course.

2. Create a file for each geographical region and a file for Washington State to keep your current events articles/clippings organized.

3. Collect 2 to 3 articles for each region regarding problems and possible solutions each region is experiencing or has experienced. For example, topics may include:

  • Growth
  • Housing
  • Job Market
  • Land Use
  • Cultural Conflicts
  • Preservation
  • Industry
  • Natural Disasters
  • Weather/Climate

4. Record each problem and/or solution on a separate report form and file it accordingly.

5. Cover at least 8 of the following topics for the Washington State file, and use a separate report form for each article. The completed file must contain 8 articles with no more than 2 articles per category choice.
