Unit Student Learning Objectives

Student Learning Objectives -- As a direct result of reading, studying, and discussing Unit V, "The People" each student shall be able to:

PROBLEMS:

1. Identify the major population/settlement cluster areas in Washington State. Describe why people choose to settle in each of those areas.

2. Identify the major groups that immigrated to Washington State during the 1990's, and write the percentages of increase.

3. Describe how Washington State school are organized and how they are managed. This will include talking about Principals, Superintendents, and School Boards. Describe a bit about how schools are financed in our state. You will probably need to go to the web and/or interview teachers and/or administrators.

4. Name the major television and radio stations on each "side" of the state. Name the major phone companies, cable companies, and cellular providers. This will require internet research.

5. Describe at least 3 cultural activities available in Washington State. These will include fairs, music events, shows, etc. Cite your own experience at one of these activities. (Check out this website)

6. Explain the structural organization and function of Washington State's government. Include the major branches and at least five departments in the government.
