Unit Two: EMPLOYMENT ACQUISITION

Description of Unit:

To meet the competencies for the Employment Acquisition unit, the student will complete the following assignments with a minimum grade of 2. If a grade of 1 is received, the student must redo or complete the assignment. Test grades will be averaged in as a percentage of the points possible. A reminder - all assignments must be completed with a minimum grade of 2 before a grade is earned.

Assignments:

  1. Read Chapter 6 in the Textbook and complete the questions on page 128, "Thinking Critically", 1-5. Be sure use complete sentences.

  2. In the Workbook, complete the following activities: 6-1, 6-2,6-3 with additional application from the instructor, 6-4, and 6-5. 6-4 & 6-5 will have additional handouts for a modified version of the workbook assignment.

  1. Read Chapter 7 in the Textbook and complete the questions on page 148, "Thinking Critically, 1-5. Be sure to use complete sentences.
  2. In the Workbook, complete the following activities: Activities 7-1, 7-3, and 7-5.
  3. Additional Interview assignment from the instructor

  1. Acquire letter(s) of recommendation

SAVE ALL JOB APPLICATION DOCUMENTS ON A DISC

  1. Type a letter of application to an ad in a newspaper or choose one from the workbook. Your instructor will give you an example.
  2. Video taped job interview
  3. After viewing you job interview, fill out the questionnaire in response to the interview
  4. Your instructor will give you examples of the following letters: Follow-up (Thank you for the interview), Letter of Acceptance, Letter of Resignation, Letter of Refusal.

    Using business letter format, type out your version of all four letters for a job or jobs that are agreed upon by you and the instructor.
