Dear Parents, Students, and Community,

We are off to another great year at Allen School where we are enhancing what we have while undertaking new initiatives to help our students achieve more than ever! Our school has just completed a major remodel, we have many new staff members and a new principal, we are in the midst of effective schools study and school improvement process, student citizenship is being enhanced through continued refinement of Make Your Day, and our school is the first in the country to have all teachers participate in a teaching and technology grant called Teacher Leadership Project.

Our New School
Allen School has just been completely remodeled to better serve our students. When you visit our building you will immediately notice the beautiful grounds and building, improved light and ventilation, and much more functional space. All of which, directly impacts how our students learn in a significantly positive way.

New Staff
We have continued the trend of having a professional, caring, and committed staff through the addition of new staff members to our Allen Family. Please feel free to contact them if you have any questions or concerns about the learning of your child.

Effective Schools Study / School Improvement Process -
The staff at Allen are committed professionals who strive to keep up on best instructional practices. We are currently in our second year of the School Improvement Process and are also busy studying effective schools research. It is our mission to find out what we can do to help our students learn as much as they possible.

Teacher Leadership Project
Allen is the first and only school in the entire country that has all certificated staff members trained in effective instruction and the integration of technology through the Teacher Leadership Project (TLP). Not only have we received intensive training in effective instructional practices, each regular education classroom has received a Laptop Computer, LCD Projector, and Document Camera to facilitate learning.

Student Citizenship: Make Your Day
Our students at Allen are incredibly well behaved and focused on learning. This is due in part to our outstanding staff, but also through our citizenship program called Make Your Day. This program puts a high value on student responsibility, logical and predictable consequences for student actions, and student self-assessment. We are committed to high expectations of our students; helping them be successful in academics and behavior.

Your Feedback is Important to Us –
Parents and students are valuable partners in the learning process and the effectiveness of our school. We want and value your feedback. Please take a few minutes to send us a note regarding how we are doing. You may email it to me or you can use the bottom portion of the weekly Allen Newsletter.
