The Burlington-Edison School District is seeking an educational/instructional leader who can work within a management team concept as Assistant Principal at its high school beginning with the 2008-2009 school year.  The school is a AA high school, serving approximately 1100 students in grades 9 - 12.  Burlington-Edison School District is located in Skagit County, Washington, and approximately 70 miles north of Seattle on the I-5 corridor.

DESIRED PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCES:

·         Valid Washington State teaching and principal credentials with Master's Degree in educational administration or related field.

·         Successful teaching experience at secondary level and knowledge of current trends in secondary education.

·         Effective administrative or supervisory experience.

·         Priority given to applicants meeting other qualifications who are fluent in Spanish.

·         Demonstrated strengths in the following areas:  student discipline and attendance; student portfolios; staff development, supervision, and evaluation; curriculum and program development; building management, operation, and maintenance; parent/community relations and involvement; and activities coordination and direction.

·         Knowledge of or amenable to learn, use and integrate the district’s technology strategies, systems and curriculum software programs as well as demonstrate knowledge of the District’s Technology Competencies.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

·         Assist the building principal in all phases of the overall management of the effective educational and supplemental activities of the building.

·         Supervise the discipline and management of students consistent with district and building policy.

·         Work with other administrators and staff to establish student objectives and activities.

·         Work with students and staff on the development of a 4-year portfolio program and senior exit presentations.  Work with students and staff in the development and implementation of an alternative education program.

·         Work with staff in instructional improvement; participate in staff evaluation.

·         Assist in the supervision, reporting and monitoring of students' attendance.

·         Exercise responsibility for supervision of assigned support staff and other such duties as assigned.

SALARY AND BENEFITS:

·         Compensation and benefits are provided in accordance with the administrative salary and benefit program; 260 workdays per year.
